Before we all became hyper-aware and vigilant about spreading germs, school superintendents dealing with the flu and hospitals trying to control deadly viruses understood the difference between being safe versus just looking clean. Now the world is waking up to the distinction—while looking for the most effective sanitation tools that will help us get back to work. And with every company trying to get back to business by keeping tables, chairs, and other surfaces free from coronavirus and other highly infectious pathogens (germs), disinfecting—not cleaning!—is essential to opening safely.

At First Germ Responders, we proudly use the top-of-the-line electrostatic spraying method. Our professional cordless backpack sprayers are highly effective, designed to reach into the tiniest nooks and crannies, thus effectively killing pathogens, including, but not limited to, SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).

Vital Oxide is an EPA-registered hospital disinfectant cleaner, mold killer, and odor eliminator. Its formula contains a unique form of stabilized chlorine dioxide that is very effective at killing bacteria, viruses, and mold yet Vital Oxide is non-irritating to skin, non-corrosive to most treated articles, NSF-certified (no rinse required) for food-contact surfaces, and listed as a category IV (lowest toxicity category) pesticide with the EPA.

A professional electrostatic sprayer applies a positive electrostatic charge to our preferred choice of disinfectant solution (EPA approved Vital Oxide). When sprayed, the chemical envelops and coats the surface thoroughly and evenly, and quite literally wraps around all sides of any and all vertical/horizontal surfaces and/or objects. In other words: The electric charge makes the disinfectant solution act like a magnet to any surface that is sprayed.

The idea is simple: static electricity creates the attraction much like clothes coming out of a dryer, or a balloon when you rub it on your hair—only it’s a lifesaving disinfectant. Using bleach wipes or simple power washing is simply not enough these days. At First Germ Responders, electrostatic disinfecting is our preferred method to ensure safety, proper sanitation, and, ultimately, customer satisfaction.

Electrostatic spraying consists of a two-step method: the area is (1) cleaned properly, and then (2) disinfectant is sprayed using our electrostatic sprayer and allowed to dwell properly. No wiping is required in this method. In fact, wiping is counterproductive as it would reduce/remove the amount of disinfectant accumulated on the surface, counteract dwell time, and promote cross-contamination.

Our electrostatic backpack sprayers are designed to allow the professional to cover up to 23,000 square feet on a single tank of fluid. Coverage per tank is determined by particle size which, in turn, is determined by the micron setting (40 microns, 80 microns, or 110 microns).

Electrostatic spraying is designed to save time and labor, use less liquid, and cover more conductive surfaces.
